LLK Consulting was built on the belief that organizations create the greatest impact when they have strong leadership, practical guidance, and the right support behind them.
After more than 25 years serving California counties, public agencies, Joint Powers Authorities, nonprofits, and private organizations, Laura Li-Kaya saw a common challenge. Many organizations were filled with dedicated people and meaningful missions but lacked the time, resources, or executive support needed to reach their full potential. She founded LLK Consulting to help bridge that gap by providing experienced leadership that is both practical and personal.
Laura’s commitment to service began long before her executive career. Born in Mexico, she immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of four and grew up in a small rural community in Northern California. From the time she was eleven years old, she worked alongside her family in the fields, where she learned the value of hard work, humility, and perseverance. Those experiences shaped the way she approaches leadership today. Listen first. Work hard. Treat people with respect. Never lose sight of the people behind the work.
When her father unexpectedly passed away while she was in college, Laura made the difficult decision to put her education on hold and help support her family. Soon afterward, she began a career in county government, working with courts and programs serving low-income families. Many of the people she worked with reminded her of her own family. She understood the challenges they faced because she had lived them herself, and she saw firsthand how compassionate leadership and well-run organizations could change the course of someone’s life.
Over the next two decades, Laura built a career helping organizations become stronger, more effective, and better equipped to serve their communities. She has overseen more than $168 million in public programs and initiatives, led complex behavioral health campaigns, supported large public boards and Joint Powers Authorities, and guided organizations through growth, change, and operational challenges. While every organization was different, her approach remained the same. Build trust, solve problems collaboratively, and leave the organization stronger than you found it.
Today, LLK Consulting brings that same approach to every client relationship. Whether working with a public agency, nonprofit, small business, or growing organization, Laura partners directly with leadership to understand their goals, identify opportunities, and develop practical solutions that support long-term success. Clients work with Laura herself, not a rotating team of consultants, because she believes meaningful partnerships are built through trust, consistency, and genuine collaboration.
